Overview
The Susanna Wesley Foundation is delighted to offer the Susanna Wesley Visiting Fellowship, an opportunity for
- post-doctoral scholars affiliated with Methodist/Wesleyan institutions, or
- experienced practitioners in either Methodist-related Education or Church Ministry
from outside the Methodist Church in Great Britain area to spend up to two months in residence during the academic year (a period between September and December or between January and June) for research and knowledge exchange.
Offering
The Visiting Fellow will be offered access to the University of Roehampton library and other learning and co-curricular facilities at the university. ‘Hot desk’ workspace will be provided in the SWF offices.
SWF will provide self-contained single accommodation on or near the University of Roehampton campus, or the option of £950 per calendar month towards other local accommodation (with the Fellow paying any surplus accommodation costs). We would also consider providing bursaries towards the cost of travel and subsistence for those in need, to ensure access for scholars without institutional backing.

Visiting fellows will be expected to participate in at least one event (such as a podcast, seminar or panel discussion) to share the fruits of their work, in conjunction with the relevant university department, as well as to contribute to our SWF newsletter and website. We would also expect a written reflection on the impact of the fellowship at the conclusion of their residence.
They will be part of the Susanna Wesley Foundation community for the duration of their stay and therefore, where appropriate, will also be encouraged to participate in the life of Southlands College (the Methodist-founded college at the University of Roehampton), the wider university chaplaincy (which is ecumenical and inter-faith) and the wider British Methodist Connexion.

In keeping with the ethos and history of the SWF, applications are particularly sought from those traditionally under-represented in higher education.
