Job title: Deputy Head of Southlands College, full time, three years fixed-term
Grade: RU08
Salary: £40,580 – £43,989 pa inclusive of London Weighting Allowance
Southlands is one of the four constituent colleges of the University of Roehampton. It is home to around 300 resident undergraduates studying in all our departments as well as a commuting student body of around 2,000 students (Foundation to Postgraduate level) from the Faculty of Business and Law and from Music Education programmes. Several hundred staff are also members of the college.
We are looking for a Deputy Head to support the Head of College by leading our college staff team and expanding their work. That team has responsibilities for enhancing the educational experience of the whole Southlands College community, improving student continuation and outcomes, encouraging responsible citizenship, managing disciplinary processes, providing pastoral care, nurturing student leadership and offering networking and co-curricular activities for students and staff. Our historic links to the Methodist Church in Britain provide a continuing relationship and a values base which underpin our strategic planning. These will provide a guide for the Deputy Head in shaping their approach, interpreted within the life of a modern university.
This new role is for a fixed term as we explore the ways by which to develop and enhance the college’s work for the future. The post holder will have opportunities to engage in the wider academic research and/or development work of the college appropriate to their skills and experience.
