We’re delighted that Ollie Elliott, one of the DTh students we sponsor, has a new article published in Practical Theology journal entitled ‘Conversations in the ordinary: Jesus, the woman at the well, and divine revelation’.
In his article, Ollie describes how everyday, informal conversation can be a powerful site of faith formation, using Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman (John 4:1–42) as a case study and engaging especially with Clare Watkins’s work on conversational theology within Theological Action Research. By further developing Watkins’ insights, Ollie shows how ordinary, “messy” chatter can foster theological learning, reveal divine insight, and promote boundary-breaking inclusion, highlighting its value for participative research methods over more formal approaches.
